General Information
The J. B. Speed School of Engineering offers B.S. degree programs in bioengineering, chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering, and computer engineering and computer science accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700. The EAC of ABET accredited Master of Engineering degree is also offered in all of these disciplines except bioengineering, which is undergoing initial M.Eng. accreditation evaluation in Fall 2010. The Speed School is the first engineering school to achieve dual-level accreditation by EAC of ABET for its baccalaureate and master of engineering programs.
The B. S. in computer science program is accredited by CAC of ABET. Three alternating semesters of cooperative education is mandatory in all of the baccalaureate degree programs. Master of Science and Ph.D. programs are offered in all engineering disciplines except bioengineering (proposals for these are forthcoming soon).
