Angie Andriot 2010Angie Andriot, ABD
   Prof. Andriot is currently an ABD doctoral student in sociology at Purdue University.  She has a bachelor's in visual arts education, as well as a MA in sociology and a MA in social science education.  Her areas of interest include self & identity, gender & science, and education.  She will be teaching SOC 323 Diversity & Inequality in the spring, 2011 semester.

Lauren Brooks 2010Lauren Brooks, MA 
Lauren holds a BA in psychology and sociology from the University of Louisville and received a masters degree from the University of Florida in sociology with a concentration in environmental sociology. Currently, she is working for the Center for Environmental Policy and Management and the Southeast Regional Environmental Finance Center at the University of Louisville. Lauren’s current interests focus on sustainable agricultural practices, environmental justices, food politics and food security.  She will be teaching SOC 201 Introduction to Sociology, SOC 305 Urban Sociology, and SOC 323 Diversity & Inequality in the spring, 2011 semester.

Suzanne Hopf, JD
     Prof. Hopf is an attorney for the Department of Public Advocacy and specializes in criminal defense and juvenile law. She has been the attorney of record for several significant juvenile law opinions in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and has taught Principles & Concepts, Diversity & Inequality, Human Sexuality, Criminology, Juvenile Delinquency, and the Sociology of Law.  She will be teaching SOC 480 Juvenile Delinquency in the spring, 2011 semester.

Deanna McGaughey Summers, ABD
     Prof. McGaughey Summers completed her MA in Sociology from Ohio University; MS in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville, and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from University of Louisville. Her areas of interests include rhetorics of sexuality, gender studies, inequalities, and philosophies and administration of justice. She will be teaching SOC 202 Social Problems and SOC 203 Self & Society in the spring, 2011 semester.

Angela Orend, MA
     Prof. Orend graduated from the Department of Sociology at the University of Louisville with her MA in 2004.  She has taught Social Theory, Diversity & Inequality, Social Problems, Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Families and Principles & Concepts.  She has also taught classes at UofL via Distance Education, UPS Metroversity, and KET Telecourse.  Her research focuses on issues of commodificaton with respect to the body and popular culture.  Specifically, her research explores the sociological factors underlying the increasing popularity of corporate logo tattoos as a form of postmodern consumption.  She has recently published this research with the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography.  Additionally, she has worked with Dr. Mark Austin and Dr. Patricia Gagne examining the commodification of the biker in American culture.   She will be teaching SOC 329 Sociology of Families in the spring, 2011 semester.

Jonetta Weber, PhD
     Prof. Weber is the Director of Academic Services in the Department of Sociology and completed her PhD in education (sport administration) at UofL. Her areas of interest include sport (history of sport, sport and academics), leisure, and animals in society.  She teaches Sociology of Sport, Social Context of Aging, Sociology of Death and Dying, and supervises the undergraduate Sociology Internship course.  Additionally, she teaches courses in Sport Adminstration -- Sociology of Sport, Athletics in Higher Education, and (in 11S) Women and Sport.  She is currently working on a course focused on animals and society.  She is also working on several publications, including one which relates to her dissertation (former student-athletes returning to complete their undergraduate degrees), one examining the lack of women represented on the covers of Sports Illustrated magazines, another exploring the lack of representation of females in popular fishing magazines, and, finally, one exploring the leisure pursuits of college students.  She will be teaching SOC 420/SPAD 391 Sociology of Sport, SOC 415 Sociology of Death & Dying, and SPAD 529 Women and Sport in the spring, 2011 semester.
