WHEREAS shared recreational spaces contribute to the physical, emotional, and social health of individuals and communities; and
WHEREAS dog parks provide a way for people to connect with one another across a community, thereby improving human relations; and
WHEREAS Durham’s one wonderful dog park is located in Southwest Durham and is not central enough for most of Durham’s residents to regularly visit; therefore be it
RESOLVED that this body request the Durham County Parks & Recreation Department and the Durham County Human Relations Department / Commission work together to create a second dog park in Durham, to be located North of the Durham Freeway in an area of town in particular need of community-building.
