SEPTEMBER REPORT

The School of Public Health and Information Sciences Council Report

President –  Kelly Carter

The School of Public Health and Information Sciences has had a busy few weeks getting to know the new students and beginning our community involvement.  The SPHIS SGA had a “Meet and Greet” night at Vernon Lanes where nearly 70 new and old students, faculty, and staff bowled together.  The SPHIS SGA also worked very hard to raise money and walk in the annual Louisville AIDS walk on September 13.  Along with faculty and staff, the students raised at least 300 dollars for the walk by selling shirts and having a chili cook-off.  The service chair of SPHIS SGA also coordinated several students to help organize and work during the walk.  Also, the faculty and students held a small forum to educate everyone on H1N1.

In the upcoming months, the SPHIS SGA also intends on hosting dinner and a movie night with a health related educational movie.  We also will be hosting another forum to educate students about the current health care debate.
