Huber's Farm 2007
September 8, 2007
For the first event of the new Mentor/Mentee Program at the U of L chapter of SWE, the group went to Huber’s Farm in Starlight, Indiana. We started the adventure with a pit stop at the Farmer’s Market to buy snacks, since several of the members forgot to eat breakfast. Then we were off to ride the tractor to pick apples in the orchard. Gooden Delicious and Jonathan were ripe and ready to be picked. Kameryn decided to take on a wasp with her eye, luckily she only got stun once; she definitely taught that wasp who was boss. Next, we were off to the raspberry patch to eat the raspberries right of the wines. As the rest headed back to the Farmer’s Market, Sheryll, Todd, Jen, Simone and Kameryn battled the horseflies and other enormous bugs in the grapes wines to help Todd and Sheryll get enough grapes to make some homemade wine. Due to all the work involved with picking apples, raspberries, and grapes everyone was famished, so we eat lunch at Joe Huber’s Family Restaurant. The trip ended with a peaceful stroll on the docks where we encounter several cute little baby ducks. The ride home was quiet because most of the girls fell asleep in the car.
