The Crossing Borders Symposium was held on June 27th, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The symposium began with a Panera bagel breakfast and was followed by Simone Caston leading a Health, Beauty, and Work Life Balance Seminar. She informed the girls when make-up should be replaced (lipstick and finger nail polish- 1 year; mascara- 3 months!). She also described how to transform a college wardrobe into a sophisticated work outfit. After Simone finished with a Mary Kay raffle, a short break was taken, followed by a presentation on Project Management by Fariba Timaji. Fariba explained the different project phases and how to manage the project process in order for it to be successful. Next, our sections President, Kelly Nicholson, discussed interview preparation and explained what we should expect when looking for both a full time job and a co-op. A list of possible interview questions were handed out to each girl in order for her to begin preparing for interviews. Finally, the day was ended with an International Luncheon. All the girls learned something new at this luncheon, whether it was trying a new dish for the first time or learning how to eat with chopsticks.
