rdf:parseType="Literal">
So you know how some students look forward to summer break and always complain that it's not long enough? I can pretty much speak for all of the returning students in the UofL Polo Club when I say that we wish that summer were shorter... because a short summer means a quick return to Arena Polo! We have already put loads of work into the upcoming season, and honestly can't wait to get it going. We will be returning to Charlie and Sloan's barn in La Grange, and we can't thank them enough for letting us return. Both our horses and our members love it out there! They have been nice enough to let two of our ponies, Khatana (or Kitana, or Gitana... it really depends on who you're talking to) and Cecil stay there on donated pasture board until our season starts on October 1.

We are also going to be using a new farrier for the season, Tim Kunkle, who was referred to us by one of our past members who now runs a local lesson program. We are looking forward to working with him during the upcoming months! Currently we are working on finding good quality, affordable hay (around $4.50/bale delivered), so please let us know if you know of any in the area. We are also looking for feed sponserships... last year we had a one-time $1,500 sponsership with Tapps Feed in Shelbyville, and we are looking for something similar for this year.

Since we run off of dues and donations, we are very dedicated to fundraising. Currently we are collecting soda cans and used printer ink cartridges that we have been recycling for cash. This past Saturday, we also raised money at the Stampede for VIPS (Visually Impaired Pre Schoolers), which was run by Dr. Mark Lynn & Associates. Thank you to all of our members who participated and made friends with the children! Please look out in the future for car washes, benefit matches, and other fundraising events run by us. Also, if you would like to make a donation in the form of ink cartridges, soda cans, barn supplies, horses, cash, or anything else, please send us an email and let us know!

Until next time,
Lauren S.
Barn Manager
</p:payload>
