Benefits for U of L Retirees (non health)

 

The following is a partial list of current benefits available to U of L retirees. In most cases, a Cardinal Card (University id) is required. More benefits will be added to this list in coming weeks.


1. University Libraries (http://louisville.edu/library/ )

a. Your UofL Cardinal Card (id) will permit use of all the libraries including Kornhauser and Ekstrom.

b. Retirees who have an active ULink account can access University library databases on-line.

c. The Cardinal Card will admit you to libraries of any of the Metroversity affiliates, but circulation of items will be on a case by case basis.

2. Uof L Today

Retirees who wish to continue receiving UofL Today should subscribe to the ULT_RETIREES listserv. Click on the link below:

3. Lifelong  Learning courses sponsored by the Delphi Center:  Retirees are entitled to a 25%  discount for courses costing $89 or more (does not apply to on-line courses).  For more information, click on the following link:

4. UofL College Courses

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has legislated free tuition for anyone 65 or older. Retirees wanting to take online courses must pay the surcharge of $101.30 per credit hour.

5. Planetarium (http://louisville.edu/planetarium/)

Retirees may attend any show for $5.

6.Ride TARC buses free of charge.(http://www.ridetarc.org)

Retirees can board any TARC bus and show their Cardinal Card for a free ride.

7. Kentucky Author Forum

Retirees can purchase discounted tickets to Kentucky Author Forum interviews for $5 with your Cardinal Card.

8. Employee Assistance Program (EAP):

Retirees have free access to the University EAP program which provides confidential assistance to individuals through the Human Development Company. The Human Development Company can provide assistance on a broad range of human problems such as emotional/behavioral, family and marital, alcohol and/or drug, financial, legal, and other personal problems.  Go to the following website for further information:

9. Speed Art Museum

 

Retirees can receive an admission discount by presenting their Cardinal Card www.speedmuseum.org/

10. Get Healthy Now

The newly-renovated Get Healthy Now Wellness Center is a comprehensive wellness center designed specifically for UofL employees, retirees, and their spouse or qualifying adult.  There is no monthly fee for retirees on the UofL medical plan, and other retirees will pay $30 per month.  Additionally, retirees may secure membership for their spouse/qualifying adult for $10 per month.  This new 22,000 square foot facility features:

  • · Group fitness classes
  • · Wellness education classes
  • · State-of-the-art strength and cardio equipment
  • · Fully refinished locker rooms
  • · Indoor walking
  • · Personal training and much more!

There is not a therapy pool on site; however, Get Healthy Now has partnered with the U of L Natatorium to offer water fitness classes free to members. The enrollment process is easy and requires only a completed enrollment form.  All non-specialty group fitness classes are included with membership.
