Internal Research and Funding Opportunities for Undergraduates
Undergraduate Research Scholar Grant (URS)
The primary purpose of a URS grant is to enrich the research, scholarship and creative arts experience of the undergraduate student by involving the student in research collaboration with a faculty mentor. Information and Application
University of Louisville NCI Cancer Education Program
Professional and undergraduate students are invited to apply for the National Cancer Institute-funded Cancer Education Program held each summer. The ten week program begins the day after memorial day and includes participation in a cancer research project. We anticipate selecting 25-30 applicants each year depending upon funding. The program provides a stipend of $4,000 or $4,300 and reimbursement for travel and housing. Additional information and application forms are found at: http://louisville.edu/medicine/departments/pharmacology/research/nci-r25-cancer-education. Applications are due March 1.

Department of Physics and Astronomy
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Louisville encourages students to get involved in research as early as possible in order to enrich their educational experience. The students have opportunities to perform research work side-by-side with faculty members, senior post-doctoral researchers, and graduate students. Currently, the department has research expertise in areas such as nanoscience, fiber optics, magneto-optics, observational astronomy, particle accelerator experiments, planetary science, atomic physics, and theoretical and computational condensed matter physics. Limited scholarships and awards for undergraduates are possible through the Ouseph Freshman Scholarship fund, W. M. Bullitt Astronomy award, and the Bennett award (Seniors). Some faculty members may have funds to support undergraduates through their extramural or internal grants. For more information see the Physics and Astronomy Current Undergraduate web site, email Dr. Shudun Liu or call 852-6790.
