Recipient of the Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award
Congratulations to Dr. Craig J. McClain on his selection as a recipient of the Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award.
This award is being made for inspiring his former student, Matthew Cave, to make a significant difference in the community. The application package that was submitted clearly highlights his accomplishments as an educator to inspire transformational work in the community. He will receive a one-time award check in the amount of $25,000.
The Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award Ceremony honoring the 2013 award recipients evening ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at The Carter Center in Atlanta, GA.
Gail McKnight Beckman created the Beckman Award to benefit teachers who have inspired their former students to make a significant contribution to society. The award is given to current or former academic faculty members who have inspired their former students to “create an organization which has demonstrably conferred a benefit on the community at large.” Alternatively, the academic faculty member must have inspired their former students to “establish on a lasting basis a concept, procedure, or movement of comparable benefit to the community at large.”
