Kentucky Writing Project State Network Outreach Program 2008
Kentucky Writing Project State Network Outreach Program 2008, sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education for the amount of $90,300.00, is a training grant that will provide professional development for teachers in six Kentucky cities this summer, June 16-20. The KWP Content Area Academies feature strands for grade 4-12 teachers of math, English, social studies, arts and humanities, and science/practical living-vocational studies. There is a special academy for primary (K-3) teachers. Administrators are invited to attend as well, and will be eligible for EILA credit. Approximately 100 Kentucky teachers will learn strategies designed to bridge achievement gaps and help all students reach proficiency. Additional information and registration is available at www.kywritingproject.org.
Directed by Jean Wolph Hicks of the Department of Teaching and Learning, the program is collaboratively planned and implemented by the National Writing Project sites at the University of Louisville, Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky University, Western Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, and Hazard Community and Technical College. The Kentucky Writing Project Network will use evaluations and follow-up studies to learn how participants implement professional development in their classrooms and schools.
