The INBRE, funded with the aid of an NIH-IDeA-INBRE grant for the period 2004-2009, continues the spirit of collaboration and networking established by the KBRIN. The major focus of the INBRE funding is to promote the development of a select group of independent investigators.

The INBRE continues to sponsor Kentucky undergraduate students to obtain a research experience in the summer and also to provide seed funds to Kentucky faculty for promising collaborative research projects.
