1st Annual Commonwealth Computational Summit

ANNOUNCEMENT, CALL FOR SPEAKERS, CALL FOR POSTERS AND REGISTRATION!

The University of Kentucky’s Center for Computational Science (CCS) is hosting the 1st Annual Commonwealth Computational Summit (CCS) on October 17, 2017 – CCS2. This exciting full day event will take place at the University of Kentucky W.T. Young Library facility. If you are interested in Advanced Computing, Big Data, Data Mining, Informatics/Bioinformatics, Complex Modeling and Simulation, Future Technologies, Cloud Computing, or conventional High Performance Computing, then come join us at the Commonwealth Computational Summit! This event is open to all university faculty and graduate students across the Commonwealth as well as to industry participants interested in computational engineering, science and data analytics. The day-long agenda includes keynote speakers from academia, industry and NSF, parallel technical sessions and a poster competition for graduate students (with prizes):

  • Morning keynote by Dr. Pascal Hitzler, Endowed NCR Distinguished Professor, Director of Data Science and Director of the Data Semantics Laboratory, Wright State University.
  • Morning parallel sessions (Big Data, Big Computing, Future Technologies) each containing three 30 minute talks.
  • Lunch, which will be provided, during and following the poster competition.
  • Afternoon government keynote by Dr. Chaitanya Baru, Senior Advisor on Data Science at the National Science Foundation (NSF).
  • Afternoon industry keynote speaker (TBD).
  • Closing Networking Reception.

You can register as a participant, a prospective speaker (see Call for Speakers below) or a poster presenter (see Call for Posters below). Call for Speakers

Are you doing exciting research in one of CCS2’s key topic areas: Big Data and Discovery; Big Computing/HPC; or Future Technologies? Would you like to speak for 30 minutes on your research? If so, please register and submit a title and abstract for your talk on the CCS2 webpages:https://www.ccs.uky.edu/ccs_square/ Select Call for Speakers Registration. Following your submission, you will be contacted regarding any further needed details and speaking session selection results.

Call for Posters

Are you a graduate student in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (or in our region) doing research related to CCS2’s key topic areas: Big Data and Discovery; Big Computing/HPC; or Future Technologies? Would you like to present a poster at our Summit, expand your resume/vita and potentially win a trip to the National Supercomputing Conference in Denver, Colorado in November? If so, please register and submit a title and abstract for your poster on the CCS2 webpages: https://www.ccs.uky.edu/ccs_square/

Volunteering

If you have interest in helping the summit, consider participating in one of the following ways:

  1. Become a CCS2 Sponsor by donating $2500 (Gold), $1000 (Silver) or $500 (Bronze) – Donation help cover the cost of the lunch, reception, breakfast and breaks and, most importantly, the cost of the prizes for the winning graduate students. Winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Supercomputing Conference in Denver Colorado in November! The more sponsorship we have, the more students we can support!
