MAC USERS

How to make BRAAN2 work on Safari:
1. Launch Safari
2. Open Preferences under the Safari drop-down menu
3. Click on the Advanced tab
4. Check the box in front of Show Develop menu in menu bar
5. Close Advanced window
6. Pull down Develop menu and go to User Agent
7. Set User Agent as Internet Explorer 8.0
8. BRAAN2 now thinks your Mac is running Internet Explorer and it lets you sign in.
Please Note: this process may need to be completed each time Safari is opened.

PC USERS

How to make BRAAN2 work with Internet Explorer 8.0 and/or Windows 7:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Bring up the BRAAN2 Login Page
3. On the top right side of the browser click on the Tools drop down (this is in the panel across the top of IE8, not in BRAAN2
4. Click on Compatibility View Settings
5. Make sure that louisville.edu is listed under "Websites you've added to Compatibility View." If not, add louisville.edu to the list.
6. "Display all websites in Compatibility View" should be checked.

BRAAN2 DAILY SHUT DOWN 11:45AM - 12:15PM

Please plan to be out of the system from 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM on weekdays. If anyone is still in the system during that time frame, they have a good chance of losing their work. During this time period there will be maintenance on the system that we hope will help speed up BRAAN2 functions in the afternoons. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.

BRAAN2 DOS AND DON'TS:

Don't use the X in the upper-right corner of window (don't "x out")
Don't log into more than one session of BRAAN2 on the same computer
Don't use the consent form builders or HIPAA form builders
Don't use any SYMBOLS (i.e, >, <, etc.)
Don't paste any tables, charts or images into BRAAN2.
Do read the BRAAN2 User's Guide.
Do set your browser pop-up blockers correctly and turn off all GOOGLE/YAHOO pop up blockers.
Do set your filters correctly.
Do notify individuals responsible for signatures when you submit a protocol
Do read the FAQ page
Do logout of BRAAN2 when you are done with your session

DO NOT USE HIPAA OR CONSENT FORM BUILDERS

Use of the HIPAA and Consent Form Builders has been discontinued. Please use the templates located on the HSPPO Website to create your documents. Then you should attach your HIPAA documents and consent forms to the MISC. ATTACHMENTS page of the IRB PROTOCOL, under the section - Approval Attachments.  Before submitting your protocol or continuation review, please delete any HIPAA or Consent form builders that currently exist. If all HIPAA and Consent form builders are not deleted, the study cannot be processed by the IRB and will be returned to you.

BRAAN2 does not recognize CHARTS, TABLES, IMAGES, or SYMBOLS (i.e., <, >, ß, etc.)

If you use any of these items in your submission the IRB will not be able to view it and it will be sent back to you to be corrected.

HIPAA TEMPLATES

Use of the new HIPAA Forms is mandatory as of April 1, 2009. New studies submitted with the old format will be returned.

SUBMIT ALL NEW IRB PROTCOLS VIA BRAAN2

Please use BRAAN2 to submit all new studies or actions (i.e, amendments, continuing reviews, etc.)on studies already in BRAAN2.  For active studies that were originally submitted in paper: please continue to submit all actions (i.e, amendments, continuing reviews, etc.) in paper.  As of 8/13/07, we stopped accepting new studies in paper.
