University computer contracts provide Energy Star compliant systems.
The University purchases recycled aluminum sign blanks, parking stops, speed bumps, speed humps and posts.
Carpet recovery projects in the Student Activities Center and Ekstrom Library resulted in savings of:
1,975 Gallons of Oil, 44,900,000 BTU’s and 20,205 lbs diverted from landfill.
University established contract with Shred-it to provide shredding services.
Every time two shred containers are filled, a tree is saved; collectively 198,500 lbs were shredded by the University, saving 992 trees.
The University has established a contract with Clover Technologies to recycle cartridges. This year over 1431 cartridges have been recycled.
The University has purchased 1794 recycled toner cartridges through the established office supply contract. For every cartridge that is remanufactured, over a pound of plastics is withheld from the waste stream.
The University purchased 5,237,352 reams of recycled paper for the printing department.
The University purchased 10,950 cases of recycled paper for the University stockroom.
Every ton of recycled paper uses 64% less energy, 50% less water and causes 74% less air pollution than the same quantity of paper from virgin wood pulp.
