Anechoic Chamber Progress

Renovation of space in Strickler Hall on UofL's Belknap campus which will house the new anechoic chamber facility is nearly complete.   Below are photographs showing construction stages of the chamber's foundation.

Installation of the chamber (built by Eckel Industries) should begin in the next few weeks.  The completed chamber will have interior working area of approximately 3.8 x 3.8 x 3.8 m, and cut-off frequency of approximately 125 Hz.  The interior of the chamber will be fitted with a robotic loudspeaker positioning system for human head-related transfer function (HRTF) measurements designed and build by Physical Sciences Lab (PSL).  This project is funded by a grant ("Enhancing the utility of spatial auditory displays for military applications") from AFOSR & KY DEPSCoR.
