Research
In the Memory & Cognition Lab at the University of Louisville, we have wide-ranging interests. Recent studies have examined topics as diverse as mental rotation of objects in three-dimensional space, the effect of worry on cognition, and distorted memory for the behavior of members of minority groups. Presently, two major research foci are:
Individual differences in memory. Some people naturally seem to remember more than others: They may remember more or be less prone to memory distortion. What factors explain these differences between individuals?
Memory enhancement. Can a police detective increase the number of details eyewitnesses remember? Can students increase the amount they remember from lectures? In these contexts and others, memory enhancement is desirable, but how can it be accomplished?
