Top Ten Things To Know About Responsibilities for Undergraduate Research Assistants: 1) Background Reading---purchase, learn to use EndNote software available from U of L IT 2) Record Keeping--electronic lab notebook required 3) Time Log--electronic time log shared once a week 4) Writing--purchase "How to Write A Lot" by Paul Silva, read, and then write.. 5) Expenses-- About same amt as with courses that require a textbook. Will include EndNote, xeroxing articles and bookchapters, writing book, APA guide 6) CITI HIPAA training-- required to be completed in first month in lab 7)Resume-- required to be completed in first month in lab 8) Presentations, Conferences-- typically one poster expected per semester 9) Preparation for Lab Meetings--an agenda required for each mtg that includes weekly progress, what issues/insights/problems have come up, plans for next week 10) Commitment to Research Discovery and Application of Research to Practice--very high level for both
