Luke
Hometown: Louisville, KY
Major: Theatre Arts
Plans to graduate: Spring 2006
Why he chose U of L: I chose U of L because I needed to explore my options. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in or be involved with, and U of L felt like a place where I could discover where I needed to be.
The biggest surprise when he arrived on campus: I’ve been surprised by how kind and helpful most of my professors have been. When I’ve gone to see them to discuss the class or anything else, they’ve been focused and supportive. I expected a lot more ego, probably based on a lot of bad movies about college.
Advice for future students: Eat well. Sleep well. Have a lot of fun. Try a bit of everything; you never know what’s going to hit you and make you think, “Yeah, that’s something I really want to do.”
What he wishes someone had told him about college: Someone should have told me to make more friends! Friends, above all else, are what will help you get through the rough semesters and the bad times that you’ll encounter. Plus, they’re just great fun to have around.
Other thoughts about U of L: Your student experience will be what you want it to be. U of L is a place where the amount of effort and enthusiasm you put in is directly proportional to the knowledge and rewards you will get.
