The Amber Carrier Student Ally Award
Nominate someone you'd like to see honored for their work as an ally!
In 2011, the Office for LGBT Services introduced a new award to honor University of Louisville students who have demonstrated a commitment to being an ally to the LGBT community throughout the year. To be recognized, nominees must have demonstrated success and must be role models for other students. The ideal nominee is someone who stands in solidarity with LGBT efforts, regularly challenges their own privilege and those of other majority identities; and works for change at the personal, political, or policy level.
The award is named for U of L graduate Amber Carrier, who in 2010 worked to raise the funds for a graduate assistant position in the Office for LGBT Services. Her commitment to being an ally to her LGBT classmates brought much-needed resources to the work of the office.
Nominations for this year's award are due March 30.
