UofL will receive $9.56 million from the National Institutes of Health to head a multicenter cardiovascular research network. This new consortium of laboratories will revolutionize how scientists explore ways to protect the heart from damage during a heart attack. Today, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden was at the University of Louisville as part of the McConnell Center speaker series. After discussing Egypt's unrest and future, he tried to dispel four myths he thinks some Americans believe --

• That government is broken
• That international competition is overtaking America's lead
• That the shadow of war will loom over us indefinitely
  
• That these myths are inevitable
