Krista Wallace-Boaz

Dr. Krista Wallace-Boaz is the Assistant Dean for Student Programs, Director of Graduate Studies and Associate Professor of Piano and Pedagogy in the School of Musics.  She teaches class piano, piano pedagogy, score reading, and applied piano. In 2003 she became the pianist in the Trio Bel Canto, an alto saxophone/tenor saxophone/piano trio dedicated to the creation of new music for this genre. In March 2010 Dr. Wallace-Boaz made her Carnegie Hall debut with the University of Louisville Grawemeyer Players, performing works by Lutoslawski and Currier, receiving accolades from the NY Times for her warm-toned and picturesque performance. She may be heard in collaboration with saxophonist Dave Wozniak on the newly released recording American Fusion, produced by Emeritus Recordings, and on Free Flying with trombonist Brett Shuster, produced by Albany Records. She recently performed at the 2012 World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland, performing works by Michas and Lieuwen. Dr. Wallace-Boaz is the MTNA Southern Division Young Artist Competition Coordinator, Director of Operations for the Chamber Music Society of Louisville, Co-Director of the Macauley Chamber Music Competition, and State Coordinator for the MTNA and KMTA State and Bluegrass competitions.
