David Imbroscio is Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Louisville and a member of the Ph.D. Program Faculty in the School of Urban and Public Affairs. He graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science.  He also holds Master’s degrees in Political Science from Ohio State and the University of Maryland, with specializations in the fields of Public Policy and Political Economy.  He completed his PhD at the University of Maryland, writing his doctoral dissertation under the direction of Stephen L. Elkin and Clarence N. Stone.  He is author or editor of five published or forthcoming books, including Reconstructing City Politics (Sage, 1997), Making a Place for Community (with Thad Williamson and Gar Alperovitz; Routledge, 2002), Theories of Urban Politics, (with Jonathan Davies, Sage, 2009), and Critical Urban Studies (also with Jonathan Davies, SUNY, expected 2010).  A sixth, a monograph tentatively entitled Urban America Reconsidered, is currently under review.  Professor Imbroscio’s scholarly articles have appeared in Polity, Policy Studies Journal, Politics and Society, The Good Society, Review of Policy Research, Journal of Urban Affairs, and Urban Affairs Review.  While on leave from the University of Louisville, 1999-2000, he was a Senior Research Associate at the National Center for Economic and Security Alternatives in Washington, D.C.  Professor Imbroscio currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Urban Affairs, and is a member of the Governing Board of the Urban Affairs Association.
