The University of Louisville Police Department is investigating two unrelated reports of robbery 2nd (no weapon used or displayed) involving University of Louisville students.
Incident #1
The victim reported that on 09-28-12 at 1:37 AM, he was on Unity Place, in front of the Triangle House. The victim was smoking a cigarette. He was approached by the suspect, who asked him for a lighter. The victim gave the suspect the lighter. The suspect then demanded cigarettes from the victim. When the victim declined to give him the cigarettes, the suspect pushed the victim, and attempted to take them. Then victim then fought back, striking the suspect in the head. The suspect fled the area, without taking anything. No weapon was indicated.
The victim described the suspect as:
A black male approximately 5’9”, thin build (130-150 lbs), early to mid 20’s, with short hair. He was wearing a black U of L baseball hat, black polo shirt with the University of Louisville logo on the chest area, and blue jeans. The suspect was also riding a black bicycle.
Incident #2
The victims reported that on 09-28-12 at 11:59 PM, as they were walking through campus, on the sidewalk between Davidson Hall, and the Life Sciences, they were approached by the two suspects. One suspect forcibly grabbed the victim’s arms, and removed his cell phone from his hand. The suspect also demanded the victim’s money ($20). No weapon was indicated. The 2nd victim fled the scene prior to having any items taken from himthe offense. Both suspects fled the scene.
The victims described the suspects as:
#1 A black male 5’10”-5’11”, thin build, approximately 18-21 years of age. He was wearing a
gray zip up hoodie, with a dark knit hat, and baggy jeans.
#2 A black male 5’09” -5’10”, thin build, approximately 18-21years of age.
He was wearing a dark hoodie, with a dark shirt underneath, and dark baggy jeans.

The following are suggestions, which may help prevent you from becoming the victim of a robbery:
Walk with a group of people, and if walking to a parking lot, do not the leave the area until everyone is safely in their vehicle.
Remain alert and watchful for suspicious activity.
Be alert for anything suspicious, especially two or more people just hanging around.
If you sense something wrong, leave the area immediately.
The following are suggestions of things to do and not do during an actual robbery, and what to do after a crime occurs:
Observe what the suspect looks like and develop a mental picture so that an accurate description can be given to the police.
Don't chase or follow the suspect.
Protect the crime scene.  Leave everything as it is.  Don't try to clean up or touch any possible evidence.
Write down a description of the suspect including sex, race, height, weight, build, eye and hair color, scars or tattoos, jewelry, approximate age, and clothing.  If possible, note in which direction the suspect fled.  Remember do not chase the suspect.
Report any suspicious activity to the University Police at 852-6111.
Call the Department of Public Safety for escort services at 852-6111.
