Directions to Rauch Planetarium
Exits for the University of Louisville are directly off of I-65 North and South.
From I-265 (Gene Snyder) or I-264 (Watterson Expressway), head North on I-65.
From I-71 South or I-64 East or West, head South on I-65.
Traveling South on I-65
- Take I-65 South (Toward Nashville), to the Arthur Street exit (Exit 134).
- Continue to the first stop sign, Arthur street and Brandeis Avenue.
- Turn right onto Brandeis Avenue / Cardinal Boulevard.
- Continue through 2 stop lights.
- The North Entrance to the campus is located to your left, just past the intersection of Cardinal Boulevard and Brook Street.
- Turn left into the North Entrance, which is directly between the School of Music and the College of Education. (If you reach the intersection of Cardinal Boulevard and Second Street, you have gone too far.)
- At the stop sign, the Planetarium can be seen to the right.
Traveling North on I-65: Detour for Eastern Parkway
Take Exit 133A at Eastern Parkway
- Turn Left on Bradley Avenue
- Turn Left on East Brandeis
- Continue through 2 stop lights.
- The North Entrance to the campus is located to your left, just past the intersection of Cardinal Boulevard and Brook Street.
- Turn left into the North Entrance, which is directly between the School of Music and the College of Education. (If you reach the intersection of Cardinal Boulevard and Second Street, you have gone too far.)
- At the stop sign, the Planetarium can be seen to the right.
Public Parking
On week nights (Mon - Thurs) after 7 pm and on weekends (Friday, 5:30 pm - Monday, 7:30 am), public parking is available in the lot between the Business and Music Schools as well as in the lot next to the Red Barn (no permit is needed in these lots during these hours). Click here for a map of campus. (Notes: The planetarium is building 40. The red and pink lots by buildings 40, 83 and 22 are within easy walking distance of the planetarium and are available for public parking during the hours noted above).
Parking in university lots on week nights and weekends is on a first-come, first-served basis.
During weekdays, or if no parking is available in university lots in the evening or on the weekend, proceed to the Speed Art Museum parking garage on Third Street. The main entrance is located on Third Street just south of the Speed Art Museum - look for the guard shack. The parking garage is immediately west of the planetarium. The Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium is not affiliated with the Speed Art Museum and cannot validate parking for patrons using their garage.
The garage is open:
Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 8 PM
Saturday and Sunday, 7 AM - 6 PM
Parking rates: $1.50 per hour, $6.00 daily maximum.
Buses and Group parking
Buses should drop off passengers at the front gate of the planetarium's courtyard and can remain parked there for the duration of the program. Overflow parking is located in the Papa John Stadium Parking Lot. To get to this lot, exit right onto Cardinal Blvd. At the second stop light, turn right only Floyd St. and continue south until you reach Papa John's stadium on the right. Buses should park in the south parking lot.
