Cosmic Explorer Workshops
Looking for some out-of-this world fun for you 4-6 year old? Sign up for our Cosmic Explorer Workshops where kids and their parent(s) have cosmic-sized fun with hands-on, engaging activities.
Thank you for your interest in the Cosmic Explorer Workshops offered at the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium. The workshops are designed for children 4-6 years of age to attend with their parent/guardian.
One adult can bring no more than two registered children to the workshop. Siblings or children not registered cannot attend the workshop and childcare is not provided.

I Want to be an Astronaut: September 16, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Ever wonder what it is really like to be an astronaut? To live and work where there is no air and everything floats around you? Kids launch rockets, eat astronaut food and see first-hand what happens in space if you don’t wear a space suit.

Solar System Adventures: October 14, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Discover and explore the many different worlds of our Solar System, Earth's celestial neighborhood. Kids have fun using ice cream, chalk and coffee beans to learn about scale and they leave with an understanding of the variety of sizes, distances, and other wonders in our cosmic backyard.
Big Sky and More – Oh My!: November 11, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Begin the exploration of the sky in our new portable planetarium as you join Big Bird and Elmo in discovering interesting things in our sky. After an imaginary trip to the moon, kids investigate interesting phenomena in our sky and why they move. And to top it off, everyone gets to create a constellation and be the centerpiece of an Earth-Sky model.
