Juliette Low Birthday and Halloween Party

October 22, 2011, 7 pm – 9:30 pm 

Did you know that Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts, was born on Halloween? Come celebrate the scouts with a costume contest, special activities and treats, and a spooky laser light show. If you don’t want the fun to stop at 9 pm, consider staying for the full overnight program (see below). Space is limited so be sure to book early

All overnight programs include an evening snack, continental breakfast, a planetarium show and hands-on activities.

What could be more fun than a costume slumber party?!  Come for the Girl Scout birthday party and stay for the overnight. Enjoy a night at the planetarium, including a special spooky laser light show, Halloween crafts and games, as well as all of your closest scouting friends. It will definitely be a Halloween to remember. Details and registration.

December 17-18, 2011, 7 pm – 9 am

Elves and flying reindeer aren’t the only magical part of this holiday season.  Come celebrate the holidays with the planetarium and other local scouts.  This overnight will not only include our popular holiday laser light show, but girls will learn mad science.  Make your own silly putty, watch water disappear and even more.  You’ll have handmade stocking stuffers to take home and plenty of ways to entertain at your next holiday dinner! A Night Under the Stars

February 18-19, 2012, 7 pm – 9 am

Who says astronomers can’t have fun?  At the planetarium, we beg to differ!  Spend the evening earning your Space Explorers and Sky Search badges, while enjoying private star shows in the dome, hands-on activities, crafts and more.  There will be plenty of time for the Girl Scouts to relax and meet other troops from the area. All of the stars and fun of a camp-out with your friends, none of the bugs and cold!  Details and registration.

Astronaut Training Overnight

March 17-18, 2012, 7 pm – 9 am

Go to bed a Girl Scout and wake up an astronaut!  That’s the goal of our popular Astronaut Training Overnight. Earn badges while learning about the demands with being an astronaut, and turn your troop into a crew of junior astronauts. 3..2…1…Blast-off! Details and registration.

Earth and Sky Overnight

April 28-29, 2012, 7 pm – 9 am

The Earth provides us with a pretty comfortable home—a lot more cozy and relaxing than other planets would!  Learn why Girl Scouts couldn’t exist anyplace else in the Universe and earn a badge while doing it.  The night will be filled with experiments and exciting demonstrations while we discover just how important the Earth and sky are to our survival. (Note: All badging programs are designed for Jr. Girl Scouts, as well as Brownies. 
Each troop will earn similar badges, as designated by their age groups.)

Amazing Aerospace for Junior Girl Scouts

Saturday, November 19, 2011, 10:30 am – 12 pm

Set your sights sky high and earn your Aerospace Badge through a diverse collection of hands-on experiments and fun activities. Girl Scouts will have a great time learning what it means to be a scientist and engineer working in flight and rocketry.  (Girl Scouts are given a discount to all planetarium shows the day of their badging program.) Movers Try-it for Brownies

Saturday, November 19, 2011, 1 – 2:30 pm

The sky’s the limit when you become a mover and shaker through a diverse collection of hands-on experiments and fun activities that explore motion and flight. Brownies will have a great time learning about flight and rocketry.(Girl Scouts are given a discount to all planetarium shows the day of their badging program.) Details and registration.

Rocks Rock! For Junior Girl Scouts

March 24, 2012, 10:30 am – 12 pm

Rocks hold plenty of secrets, including a past life that you can uncover if you know how to read the clues. Explore how rocks reveal clues to their existence long ago (and clues about what the Earth was like too!) Investigate fossils and floating rocks while meeting the requirements for the Rocks Rock badge. (Girl Scouts are given a discount to all planetarium shows the day of their badging program.)
