Astronaut

The exploration of space is the greatest endeavor that humankind has ever undertaken.  What does it take to become of a part of this incredible journey?  What does it take to become an astronaut?  Astronaut, the newest show of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium, answers these questions.  Astronaut is the latest production of the National Space Centre and is narrated by the actor Ewan McGregor.  In this family friendly show you experience the extreme training astronauts undergo to prepare for the voyage into the harsh conditions of outer space.  Astronaut opens on July 18.

The Planets

This amazing show takes you on a journey through our solar system and features current NASA mission imagery. Produced by the Southeast Planetarium Association, this show provides an in-depth look of each planet. Narrated by actress Kate Mulgrew, best known for her role in Star Trek: Voyager, it is geared for middle to high-school students. The show is designed to immerse the audience in current images of our Solar System and give them the sensation of traveling through space.

Our Place in Space – Children's Show

Join Scarlet Macaw, Indy Elephant, and Paula Polar Bear as they solve a crossword puzzle. Along the way they will learn why we have night and day, explore the Sun and planets, and other things astronomical. This program is suitable for children ages five to eight.

Using immersive video technology, journey to the planets of our Solar System and search for the most important ingredient for life - water.

BIG

The size of the universe is vast. The numbers used to describe it are, well, astronomical. Using Immersavision technology, "BIG" explores the Universe and takes the audience on a tour of some of its most magnificent sights.

Skies Over Louisville: Seasonal Editions

What does the sky look like tonight? Where can I find the planets? When is the best time to see the International Space Station? "Skies over Louisville" is designed to help answer these questions and many more. The program features an in-depth tour of the night sky including stars, constellations, and planets. Each month we will explore one area of observational astronomy in detail and every session will give the audience a chance to ask questions about the current night sky. This program changes with the seasons and throughout the year, so be sure to comeback again and again. This program is suitable for all ages.
