Bio: Dr. Thomas Tretter

tretter.jpgDr. Thomas Tretter is associate professor of science education and director of the Gheens Science Hall & Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville. After earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, he joined the Peace Corps and taught middle and high school mathematics in Gabon, Africa for 2 years. Upon returning to the United States, Tom taught high school mathematics and physics for 9 years, and then completed a doctorate in science education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004. His areas of interest at the University of Louisville include research into the use of rich, immersive data visualizations for strengthening understanding of scientific phenomena that are at a spatial or temporal scale that is not directly accessible to human senses.
