Freeman delivers Colloquium on Microaggressions

Psychological and Brain Sciences Colloquium Series: “Microaggressions in Medicine” February 3, 12:30-2 p.m., Life Sciences Building, Room 101; free

Lauren Freeman, PhD, associate professor of philosophy at UofL, introduces a novel, harm-based account of microaggressions and develops this account within the context of medicine. Instead of understanding microaggressions on the basis of acts committed by agents (i.e., as microassaults, microinsults, and microinvalidations), Dr. Freeman conceptualizes microaggressions on the basis of the harms experienced by recipients. A variety of case studies will be discussed. Additional Information: Nicholas Hindy, 852-6197
