Parking Penalties & Fines

  1. The person who purchases a parking permit will be held responsible for non-moving parking violations by any vehicle bearing that permit.
  2. One citation for parking on University of Louisville property without a valid permit may be excused for new faculty, staff, and students, if a permit is purchased within seven days from the time the citation is issued.
  3. Schedule of Fines:
    • Meter violations: $30.00
    • No Spring validation: $30.00
    • Failure to display registered permit when legally parked: $40.00
    • No valid permit displayed: $60.00
    • Parked in red reserved: $120.00
    • Parked in handicapped place or blocking handicapped access: $200.00
    • Possession or use of a reported lost/stolen-parking permit: $180.00.
      Parking privileges may be revoked for the remainder of the permit year.
    • Possession or use of a forged or altered parking permit: $250.00.
      Parking privileges may be revoked for the remainder of the permit year.
  4. Fines are payable in person at the Parking Offices, by mail, or via our citation payment web form.
  5. Students with unpaid parking citations can not purchase a parking permit and will have a financial hold placed on their student financial account until the fines are paid and financial hold is released by the Parking Office.
  6. As provided for in KRS 164.975, a person using a fraudulent parking permit, in possession of a lost/stolen parking permit, or found to be a "habitual violator" may be denied permission to park or operate a motor vehicle on property owned or controlled by the University of Louisville.  Incidents involving University of Louisville registered students will be referred to the Student Life Office for administrative review.
