Spring 2013 Advising: Pre-registration is around the corner, so please make an advising appointment with me or Dr. Bunck to discuss your summer, fall and spring schedule. I am on sabbatical leave this spring, but will be available for advising appointments on Wednesdays from 9-3 in Stevenson 306 through April 3, 2013. May 2013 LALS Graduates: Natalie Schuetz and I are compiling the list of LALS students who will be graduating in May. Some of you did contact us to confirm your graduation, and we thank you for that. Check to see that your name is on the list below. If it is not, and you are graduating, please send me a message at rhondabuchanan@louisville.edu (not the service account address). If your name is listed as graduating and you are not going to do so, please let us know that as well. Mark your calendars for the Annual LALS Spring Showcase and Internship Poster Session, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 3:00-4:30. All graduates will be recognized and given certificates and graduation cords. We will also celebrate the 2013 Panama Scholars, the 2013 Lewis Scholars, and our interns. In March, you will receive an exit interview questionnaire by email. We need your feedback for our records.

Summer and Fall 2013 Internships: Internships are a requirement for the LALS minor and major (conducted in the senior year), and an elective for the LALS Graduate Certificate. The deadline for setting up an internship for the summer or fall is March 6, 2013, in advance of pre-registration. Signed applications and proposals are due on April 3, 2013. Please send an email to me to make an appointment to discuss this matter. The Kentucky Racing Health Services Center is in need of summer interns.

Behold 1500 Latinos! Volunteers needed for tutoring. We need volunteers to serve as mentors/tutors for Latino students on Saturday mornings, beginning March 23, 2013, at the 620 Building, which is part of the JCTCS campus. Go to our website for the application and information.  

Big Brothers Big Sisters Backpack Drive. The LALS Club will be collecting school supplies and small toys for our Annual BBBS Backpack Drive. Please bring items to Natalie Schuetz in Stevenson 304 by April 15, 2013. We thank Juliana Grossi, LALS Graduate Student and 2013 Panama Scholar, for involving the Louisville Classical Academy in this project.
