The LALS Program is collaborating with the Office of the Mayor’s 55,000 Degrees Initiative, particularly with the part of the initiative called “Behold 1500 Latinos! – Everyone Graduates!” The goal is for 1500 Latino students to earn advanced degrees by 2020. On March 22, 2013, tutoring sessions for Latino middle and high school students will begin and be held every Saturday morning at the 620 Building. I serve as the recruiter for UofL tutor/mentors and encourage students to apply to be tutors. We are looking for students with interests in language, math and science and they do not have to speak Spanish to volunteer.
