I am Dr. Latrica Best, and in 2010 I came to the University of Louisville as an assistant professor of Pan-African Studies and Sociology. Prior to joining the faculty at University of Louisville, I completed a National Institute on Aging postdoctoral fellowship in Gerontology at the University of Southern California's Andrus Gerontology Center. I hold a Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography (with a Gerontology minor) from The Pennsylvania State University. My general research interests are race and gender disparities in health and aging. Using large, population-level data, my most current research explores the impact of psychosocial factors on race/ethnic differences in diabetes and hypertension.
I am very excited to join this thriving community, and look forward to contributing to its growth.
