Project ORION

Project ORION Implementation Sequence

Project ORION works with Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) in an implementation methodology that will bring the PeopleSoft system up to foundation-level functionality:

Scope identifies the functional requirements for an application and the business benefits for implementation.

Campus Community and Academic Structure develop the common elements of the database upon which the software system functions.

Business Process Prototyping "kickstarts" the package development effort by building consensus on functionality and reengineered business processes. During this activity the consultants develop and deliver a technical design, phased implementation plan and deployment model, using the development as an opportunity for knowledge transfer to technical and functional personnel in the university.

Deployment delivers fully functional foundation applications installed in a production environment, technical integration, legacy data integration, application/report modification, customization, user/technical documentation, training, conversion, and testing.

Project Scope

The project scope phase began on Monday, November 3, with the arrival of the CTP implementation team. The CTP team, the campus sponsors and key members of the project teams met for a kick-off meeting all day on Wednesday, November 5, to confirm the business context, goals, objectives and guiding principles for the project.

The project scope phase was completed on Tuesday, November 25, 1997. The CTP report set up a detailed calendar for the prototyping phase of the foundation-level implementation.
