Project ORION Scope Kick-OffNovember 5, 1997The scope phase kick-off will bring together the CTP consultancy team, the campus sponsors, and key members of the project teams to confirm Project ORION's business context, goals, objectives, and operating principles, which are laid out in the documents already available on ORION-WWW. For Project ORION to succeed, the project teams and CTP consultants must share with the campus sponsors a common understanding of the project's mission and goals. The scope kick-off is designed to achieve and enunciate that common understanding and to define its practical effects on the course of the project work. CTP consultants will facilitate the kick-off sessions. In the morning meeting, the campus sponsors will articulate their vision and strategies for Project ORION improvements in student-administration and human-resources systems at the university. In further discussion, the effects of this vision and these strategies on Project ORION's goals and objectives will be linked to project expectations, critical success factors, success measurements, guiding principles, empowerment, commitment, and issues resolution. The afternoon sessions, which will be directed to the project teams, will lay out the practical calendar and project consequences of the commitments articulate in the morning session.
