[CTP Final Summary of Scope Phase]

Phase: Scope

Date: Wed November 26, 1997

Summary

This period included the final scope week and then the presentation to theexecutive staff. A discussion of versions 6.0 and 7.0 concerning prototypingand upgrading was brought up. The issue was the availability of 7.0 andgetting a pre-release ASAP. This was to be resolved by Tom Sawyer andPeopleSoft. Tom reported back that PeopleSoft would not release 7.0 until12/19/97.

Basil Addington brought up the technical note that during theupgrade between 6.0/7.0 that the translate tables must be frozen. This doesnot impact the prototype except that no changes can be made to the translatetables.

A special session was held for the professional schools for StudentAdmin - Admissions. There were no show stoppers learned, a lot of what theydo is manual. The project management team considers them in scope for theprototype in so far as they stay Vanilla with the undergraduate/grad schools.

During a Human Resources scope session, one of the members brought up aconcern that some people may be overworked during the upcoming months. Theproject management team has recognized this and will ensure that this does notoccur.

A review of the executive presentation was held on Friday 11/21 withRon Moore and Monday 11/24 with Ron Moore, Larry Owsley and Denise Giffordwith the project management team and was well received. The presentation wasthen given to the executives/operations board by Tom Sawyer and the projectmanagement team and was also well received.

On Wednesday, Cambridge Technology Partners received approval from the University, in writing, to continue with the prototype phase. A draft of the SOW was also provided toMarla Thomas and Tom Sawyer. David Longacre is providing finals of the SOW.

The final scope document is being delivered to the University on Monday 12/1/97.
