Milestones since June 1998
System prototyping and deployment
- Continued initial deployment specifications and user testing, data conversion and interface
installation in preparation for module implementation, beginning in November 1998
- Initiated and completed Medical School prototyping for admissions and student records
- Implemented Course Catalog database for production
- Continued functional testing in all modules
- Installed and tested JetForm software for decentralized printing and forms design
- Developed specifications for personal data and demographic database conversions
- Implemented AutoSys (automated client/server job scheduling) and MQ series messaging
- Designed specifications and programming for payroll interfaces to financial systems
- Established revised project implementation schedule to accommodate scheduling and
registration in 2000 Spring semester
- Continued data conversion and interface installation for implementation
Policy and operational issues
- Continued timely issues resolution and frequent communication with all project sponsors,
constituency senates, and project stakeholders
Training and knowledge transfer
- Continued PeopleSoft training for technical and functional staff members
- Established training and system security work group for development and implementation of a
campus-wide training program
- Continued participation in PeopleSoft Higher Education special-interest group
Staffing
- Continued positive and constructive consulting arrangements with Cambridge Technology
Partners
Issues
- Planning and staffing for the Release 7.5 upgrade in the first quarter 1999 continue to be
reviewed for successful, efficient installation, testing and implementation of the new version.
- Information about the system requirements and functionality needs to be circulated more
broadly on campus in preparation for implementation of modules beginning in November 1998.
Activities for October-December 1998:
- Continue planning, design and conversion activities to prepare for system implementation
- Implement Admissions/Student Prospecting module for production
- Begin parallel testing for payroll module
- Prepare for installation of PeopleSoft Release 7.5
- Acquire and implement interactive voice-response/TouchTone system for
registration
- Develop and implement campus-wide training program for functional users
- Continue timely review and resolution of policy and operation issues
- Establish a transitions advisory committee to review and critique plans for campus information
program
