Milestones since January 1998
System prototyping and development
- Completed seventeen weeks of system prototyping for Human Resources and Student
Administration modules
- Identified and began negotiating contract with the vendor for a new interactive voice response (IVR)/Touchtone
system to be installed in June 1998
- Examined data conversion and interface issues needing resolution through the technical
discovery process before the system goes into production
- Reviewed university-wide data administration and control; organized a group to oversee data
integrity, consistency and optimal utility issues
- Established a timeline and plan for student-administration data conversion from legacy systems
- Initiated post-prototyping implementation planning process
Policy & Operational Issues
- Continued timely review and resolution of policy and operation issues
- Worked with the Office of the Internal Auditor to establish a plan for timely resolution of
control issues
Training and knowledge transfer
- Reviewed and allocated PeopleSoft training unit (i.e., tuition allowance for PeopleSoft
courses) to assure effective knowledge transfer
- Participated in the PeopleSoft Higher Education Special Interest Group mid-year conference
Staffing
- Completed the Student Administration technical team
- Hired CBPA/CIS co-op student (30 hours/16 weeks) as reports and programming assistant for
Student Administration prototyping
Issues
- Professional school participation in all phases of the implementation project continues in
negotiation with HSC units.
Activities for April-June 1998:
- Continue and complete system prototyping for the foundation phase by May
- Continue and complete post-prototyping implementation plan
- Begin initial implementation activities, tasks and dependecies
- Continue timely issues resolution and frequent communication with all project sponsors,
constituency senates, and project stakeholders.
