Milestones since October 1997
- Initiated public phase of the project with a kick-off luncheon for 300 project sponsors, team
members and campus community leaders
- Identified two stages of the implementation, foundation and enrichment, to differentiate the
goals and objectives of the project's timeline
- Resolved budget issues concerning implementation timeline and goals
- Contracted with Cambridge Technology Partners for implementation consultancy
- Established regular meeting times for advisory committees
- Implemented communications plan with WWW site and direct communication via team
minutes, campus-wide e-mail distributions, and individual e-mail Q&A through a PROFS
service account
- Opened the project issues database for public review and comment via WWW to assure
systematic and open review of system issues
- Began data administration discussions to standardize data coding structures across campus
- Relocated project team offices and conference rooms to dedicated space in Miller IT Center
- Continued PeopleSoft training support for key technical and functional personnel
- Hired two additional technical support persons for the project team
- Set up dedicated space for prototyping sessions in Miller ITC 206-207
- Initiated workstation support team to bring key users on to Phoenix server
- Began Scope phase 11/5 in meetings with key administrators, campus sponsors and team
members; completed Scope phase with general report and milestone session, 11/25
- Began Business Process Prototyping using PeopleSoft Release 6.0, 12/1; prototyping will
continue through May 1998
- Installed PeopleSoft Release 7.0 and transferred data to the new structure to avoid interruption
of the prototyping process
Issues:
- Recruiting an experienced Oracle database administrator
Activities for January-March 1998:
- Continue business prototyping process
- Continue review and campus discussion of system issues to assure their resolution with due
deliberation
- Begin review of technical infrastructure support requirements
- Continue to update all project sponsors, constituency senates, and project stakeholders.
