Milestones since July '97
- Designed logo for project
- Implemented Web site at http://www.louisville.edu/orion/
- Planned for Project ORION kick-off event October 1, 1997
- Signed letter of intent for implementation partner
- Attended PeopleSoft Users Conference
- Received appointments to the SAS and HRMS Project Advisory Committees and held
introductory meetings with each
- Installed integrated Human Resources/Student Administration application software
- Continued implementation planning
- Completed initial Oracle training for database administration staff
- Continued PeopleSoft training for technical and HR functional staff
- Began data analysis of common HR/SA data elements
Modules:
These PeopleSoft modules will be implemented at the University of Louisville. They will be
brought into foundation-level production over a twenty-four month period; their functions and
service levels for the university will be refined in an enrichment phase during 2000-2002.
- Campus Community provides shared biographic, demographic, and address data to all
modules.
Student Administration:
- Recruiting and Admissions provides definition of program-based admissions requirements and
processing where each program may have separate requirements, calculations, and admissions
processes.
- Financial Aid supports the local management and awarding of Federal aid, departmental aid,
or scholarship programs.
- Student Financials provides automated billing and records for tuition, fees and other student
charges.
- Student Records provides support for automating the student records maintenance process.
This module includes touch-tone registration, grading and class roll support functions for
faculty, and other student record services.
- Academic Advisement provides an automated degree audit.
Human Resources Management:
The Human Resources Management System provides base system functionality (security, table
setup, Workflow, Effective-Dated actions), position management, base benefits, applicant
tracking, training, and Non-Resident Alien 1042 processing.
- Payroll provides base payroll processing, which includes automated check cancellations,
retroprocessing for pay and benefits, and both on and off-cycle check
processing.
- Benefits Administration provides support for automated event
maintenance and open enrollment.
- Time & Labor provides the decentralization of time entry and on-line access to labor distribution
of entries made through this module.

- Consultant's estimate for implementation services is $3.3 million. Our budget includes $2.1
million

- Begin Human Resources Business Process Prototyping
- Begin identification and resolution of issues
- Install Version 7 PeopleTools
- Secure housing and local transportation for implementation partners
- Update all project sponsors, constituency senates, and project stakeholders.
