Adding ORION databases to your workstations.
(You need to have the ORION software on your workstation before attempting to install new
databases. For information about the ORION software, contact your team leader.)
- Go to your START button.
- Go to PROGRAMS
- Select ORACLE for Windows NT
- Select SQL*NET Easy Configuration (This loads the Oracle Installer and opens SQL NET
configuration window.)
- Select the radio button Add Database Alias
- Enter the Database Alias name of satest (or any name you want for this database instance. I
recommend the same name.)
- Enter the TCP/IP Host name unix2
- Enter the Database Instance name satest (There may be name ORCL as a default. Just type
over that name.)
- Press OK.
- You will be asked "Do you wish to add this database alias?" Press YES.
- Press the CANCEL button to get out of Oracle Installer. (Note - this does not cancel your
new alias).
- Press OK at the exiting SQL*Net window
From this point on, you should be able to connect to this database alias as long as you have a valid
id and password.
