B. ASSUMPTIONS

      1. It is assumed that the NEW General Education Program courses and requirements can be finalized and delivered to the Academic Degree Audit Project Team by December 1, 2000.
      2. It is assumed that DEGREE PROGRAM course requirements and all other degree requirements for each and every undergraduate degree program of study can be delivered to the Academic Degree Audit Project Team by the respective colleges, schools and departments by December 1, 2000.
      3. It is assumed that the Transfer Credit issues will be identified and resolved by January 24, 2001 and the Transfer Credit Module will be in production by April 1, 2001.

    1. PURPOSE
    2. The purpose of the Academic Degree Audit Project Team (ADAPT) will be to successfully install the Degree Audit System in PeopleSoft that is officially known as the Academic Advisement Module. This purpose includes developing a PLAN, establishing a detailed timeline, and implementing the plan. Since the PLAN is to be successfully implemented in eleven months and by the expected completion date, it is critical that the Project Team monitor weekly the progress throughout the implementation phase.

    3. ACADEMIC DEGREE AUDIT PROJECT TEAM (ADAPT) Membership
    4. Since successful completion requires an integration of academic policies and requirements into the Peoplesoft system capabilities, it is necessary to have a small, but representative Project Team, to lead this action-oriented initiative.

Furthermore, the Project Team will need broad participation throughout the year from many small Work Groups and participation of many individuals in information sessions, especially in the colleges and departments.

The ADAPT membership shall be as follows:

      1. Chair -- Dr. Julia Dietrich (A&S), Administrator/Curriculum

      2. Co-Chair -- Kathy Otto, Student Services/Registrar

      3. Member -- Dr. Ron Mann (Speed), Faculty Representative

      4. Member -- Meg Rohmann (A&S), Advising Representative

WORK GROUPS

The chair, with concurrence from the Academic Degree Audit Project Team, shall appoint small Work Groups as needed to focus on specific tasks as they arise. Work Groups will involve two-five individuals. In each case, a Work Group will focus on a single task, investigate the issue, develop a proposed solution, and recommend a course of action to the Academic Degree Audit Project Team. Several Work Groups may be appointed to work on several issues simultaneously to expedite the overall progress of the Degree Audit Project Team.

F. ANALYSTS

The chair shall designate ‘functional analysts’ as needed to assist the Project Team with its work. The functional analysts may attend meetings of the Project Team as considered appropriate by the Project Team Chair. Likewise, Information Technology (IT) will provide technical support as needed in all phases of this project and to the Transfer Credit Project Team.

G. RELATIONSHIP TO THE TRANSFER PROJECT TEAM &

THE UNIVERSITY GENERAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE

It is important for the Academic Degree Audit Project Team to be fully aware of the work of the Transfer Project Team and the progress of the General Education Requirements Committee.

All transfer students will use the results of the ‘credit evaluation process’ to take advantage of the opportunities available through the Degree Audit system. This becomes extremely important as one out of every two candidates for graduation present transfer work in fulfillment of the degree program requirements.

Likewise, all transfer students will likely use some of their transfer courses to satisfy the NEW University-wide General Education requirements. Defining course requirements in the PeopleSoft Academic Advisement Module shall be based on the new General Education Course Requirements that become effective for Fall 2001.

  1. Additional Considerations

The attached document identifies numerous additional considerations to be considered by the Academic Degree Audit Project Team.

  1. Broad Timeline

The broad timeline presented below shall be more fully developed by the Academic Degree Audit Project Team and may be altered as needed to have timely activities and reports to assure completion of the project by June 30, 2001.
