Welcome to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center!
The Bass-Rudd Tennis Center is named in honor of Lewis "Sonny" Bass and Mason Rudd, who each donated toward its construction.
The Bass-Rudd Tennis Center was awarded the 1995 Kentucky Tennis Association Facility of the Year and the USTA College Facility of the Year.
The facility is located near downtown on the University of Louisville Belknap Campus. It is equipped with six indoor and eight outdoor cushioned tennis courts.
The Center opened its doors on September 19,1994 with a special grand opening celebration to which several well-known tennis pros attended, including Rod Laver, Roscoe Tanner, Fred Stolle and Cliff Drysdale. After playing at the Tennis Center Cliff Drysdale, a World-class pro and Tennis facility designer, stated, "This is a world class facility!" and Rod Laver, former Wimbledon Champion, stated, "It's beautiful, magnificent!"
The University of Louisville is one of the oldest urban universities in the U.S. From its inception, it has been dedicated to providing programs related to the urban area and the Tennis Center continues that commitment.
Community outreach programs are a vital part of the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center's mission, and we are pleased to offer our donated time to our fellow Louisvillians.
