Graduate Certificate Program in Logistics and Distribution

Program Objectives

This is a truly interdisciplinary graduate program offered jointly by the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Public Administration, and the Speed Scientific School through the Graduate School of the University of Louisville. Its purpose is to provide qualified applicants a high quality program for structured graduate study in this interdisciplinary field. It is designed primarily to serve persons who currently work in logistics and distribution organizations in the Louisville area, or for anyone who aspires to gain general knowledge in the field that may lead to career opportunities in logistics and distribution.

The outcomes of the program are to provide:

1.  A highly skilled workforce for employers.
2.  A sought-after academic credential for
employee-students.
3.  A career-advancement credential for both employers and employees in the logistics and distribution sector of the economy.

Curricular Requirements

The curriculum of the program requires the completion of a total of 18 semester hours of coursework, consisting of six 3-semester hour courses. The titles of these courses are listed below. Please "click" on any of them to see a detailed syllabus for the course.

Introduction to Supply Chain Management

Discrete mathematics for logistics and distribution applications

Finance and accounting applications in logistics and distribution

Facilities planning

Warehousing and transportation

Logistics Management (Capstone course)

Features of the Program

Students will be admitted to, and matriculate through, the entire sequence of courses in cohorts of approximately 20 in number.

  • Five of the six courses will be offered in compressed seven-week terms. The Discrete Mathematics course will be taught during a regular 15-week semester.

Classes will meet on the U of L Belknap Campus for three hours, twice per week.

Classes will begin at around 5:00pm and a cohort of students will be enrolled in only one course per term. 

 

Admission Requirements

Students who apply for admission to this program must meet the following requirements:

Submit a University of Louisville Graduate School Application

Submit at least two letters of recommendation

Possess at least a baccalaureate degree

Submit an official transcript for each prior degree earned

Have at lease a 2.75/4.00 cumulative grade point average

Submit scores on the Graduate Record Exam or the Graduate Management Admissions Test

Program Costs

Students admitted to this program will be enrolled in the Graduate School of the University of Louisville. As such, they will pay the regular, published graduate student tuition for their status, i.e., graduate- resident tuition , or graduate- nonresident tuition.
