Beginning at 6:30 pm attendees will view clips from the documentary CHISHOLM 72: Unbought and Unbossed, the story of Shirley Chisholm’s historic run for the Democratic nomination for Presidency of the United States. Following the viewing, a discussion regarding the effects of race and gender on American politics will be conducted. A panel of local public servants will field questions submitted by the audience. The sorority has invited citizens from across the city to participate in this discussion. Our expected attendance is a diverse group of 250 registered voters.
We invited you to encourage your members, family, friends, and co-workers to attend this event. This is an opportunity for citizens across the community to hear first hand from elected officials and appointees the role that every day citizens play in our government.
