I am pleased to announce that the Local Section Activities: A Statistical Review - 2004 is now available for download via  http://chemistry.org/localsections.  

The "Statistical Review," presents a detailed summary of the 2004 Local Section Annual Report submissions.  This resource offers local sections an "at a glance" view of what their section has done for the year and what other local sections of comparable size have accomplished.  As you review the report, you may also wish to take a moment to examine those local sections that have received the 2004 Outstanding Performance Awards (indicated with an *) as well as the finalists for Outstanding Performance Awards (indicated with an **) in each size category.  

For each local section, you will find the following information in the Statistical Review:

Size Category
Local Sections are grouped by size category, then listed alphabetically.  The 2003 and 2004 year-end membership counts are included.

Administration
The number of committees, subsections, and topical groups are indicatedIn addition, the number of section affiliates, the month the local section changes officers, amount of voluntary local section dues and the percentage of members who have paid dues are listed.

Meetings
This section indicates the number of executive committee and section meetings. The percentage of members who attended section meetings is also listed.

Programs and Activities
This section indicates (Y for "Yes" and N for "No") the programs and activities that the local section held during the year. Included in this section are activities such as joint meetings with other professional groups, awards, K-12 & student affiliate interactions, etc.

Internal Communications
This section refers to the number of newsletters published and indicates whether or not the section conducted a membership survey.

Finances
This section indicates whether or not the section prepared a budget and gives information on section revenues, expenses, and net assets. The amount of the local section allotment is also shown.
