What are the benefits of online learning?

The biggest benefit of online learning is that you can earn your degree from any location that is convenient for you. As long as you have an internet connection you are able to access your course. This is especially beneficial for those who working full-time or experiencing particular life circumstances that make attending courses on-campus difficult.

Can I complete the degree completely online?

Yes, you can complete the program 100% online.

How is the online program different than an on-campus program?

The simple answer is that it is not different. The two courses mirror each other aside from the delivery method (online). At UofL you are taught by the same world-class faculty as our on-campus students. You read the same books, do many of the same assignments and earn the same degree. The biggest difference is that you are able to do it on your own time, and in a way that best fits your lifestyle.

I am on active duty. Can I take online classes at UofL?

Yes! You can take online classes from anywhere in the world, provided you have consistent Internet access.

Can I receive credit for graduate courses completed at another institution?

Once admitted, students may request department permission to transfer up to six (6) credit hours from another regionally-accredited graduate program. Only courses that have not counted towards another degree program will be considered.

What bachelor’s degrees, other than engineering, are acceptable for admission in the MS Civil Engineering program?

A Bachelor of Science in civil engineering is required. International students must have the equivalent of a BSCE. No technology degrees will be accepted.

Are GRE scores required for admission?

The GRE is required and cannot be waived. There are no exceptions to this policy. Review the “Apply Now” section for required GRE scores necessary to be considered for admission.

Can I be admitted provisionally, until I take the GRE?

There is no provisional admission to the degree program without a GRE score.

Is Tuition Assistance available for active-duty military enrolled in the MSCE?

Yes, Tuition Assistance (TA) is currently available for active duty military at the rate of $250 per credit hour. This rate is subject to change without notice.

Are scholarships available for the MSCE program?

No, at this time there are no scholarships available However, some employers may provide tuition support through employer reimbursement programs.

Will my employer pay for all or some of the tuition for the MSCE program?

You must check with your employer to identify availability of employer reimbursement programs.
