RN-BSN Online - Program Details

The BSN online courses focus on advanced knowledge in nursing and the skills needed for leadership in a changing health care system and feature forums, chat sessions and discussion boards to facilitate easy interaction with instructors and other students.

Our expert faculty bring to the classroom a wealth of knowledge and experience that spans from palliative care, smoking cessation and hypertension in women, to community and underserved population engagement and research, family caregiving in Alzheimer’s disease and post-partum depression care.

Health care providers in the 21st century must be prepared to work in a variety of settings. They will need to be proficient in critical thinking, communication, political activism, case managements and the economics of health care. The RN-BSN online option was created in response to these needs. Coursework is completed online to allow for flexible schedules, while giving students access to IT support and faculty members who are experts in their field.

By enrolling in our RN-BSN online, you too can be part of the research and practice projects, participate in professional meetings or present on nursing topics in the community.

The professional nursing portfolio is a valuable career tool that includes a C.V., a career goals outline, a resume and an evaluation of professional credits. Typically, our BSN students build their portfolio during or prior the first semester in their online program under the direct supervision and guidance of expert faculty. The School of Nursing awards 25 Tuition-Free credit hours for the completion of a portfolio, which equates to over $12,000 in tuition savings. Equivalency credit hours may be also awarded for previous education and work experience upon completion of a portfolio.

As of April 2011, PayScale.com reported that, overall, RNs with a BSN degree earned more than RNs with an associate degree in nursing (ADN). This trend holds true across various nursing positions, including registered nurse, director of nursing, nurse case manager and clinical nurse manager. The salary variance may span from $2,000 to $10,000 per year depending on the various nursing roles and levels of experience.
