Establishment of a Center or Institute

Oversight for the establishment of centers or institutes is provided by the Office of the Provost. The proposal request must be reviewed and voted on by the Faculty Senate.  After the Faculty Senate process, the proposal requests must be approved by the Board of Trustees (BOT) to be considered for any formal university recognition or support.  If a proposed center or institute is to be included as a component of a grant or contract application for support from an external agency, the authorization for the plan should be approved prior to the submission of the application.  All proposal requests must be prepared using the required template and budget form.

The Center and Institute approval and review process is coordinated by the Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Accountability, for more information call (502) 852-6169.
